Doncic and Irving combine for 63 points
Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving combined for 63 points as the Dallas Mavericks beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 108-105 in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals on Monday night.
Doncic led the way with 30 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists, while Irving added 33 points and 5 rebounds. The Mavericks also got a strong performance from Dorian Finney-Smith, who scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
The Timberwolves were led by Anthony Edwards, who scored 26 points. Karl-Anthony Towns added 22 points and 11 rebounds, while D'Angelo Russell had 20 points and 10 assists.
The Mavericks took control of the game in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Timberwolves 31-21. Doncic and Irving were both key in the run, combining for 15 points in the final period.
The Timberwolves had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds, but Edwards' three-point attempt bounced off the rim.
The Mavericks now have a 1-0 lead in the series. Game 2 will be played in Dallas on Wednesday night.
