Rwanda, officially the Republic of Rwanda, is a landlocked country nestled in the Great Rift Valley of Central Africa. It is strategically located in the African Great Lakes region, bordering Burundi, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Uganda.

Rwanda covers an area of approximately 10,169 square miles (26,338 square kilometers), making it a relatively small country. Despite its modest size, Rwanda is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and diverse ecosystems.

Topography

Rwanda's topography is characterized by a combination of rolling hills, valleys, and mountains. The country's highest point is Mount Karisimbi, which rises to an elevation of 14,787 feet (4,507 meters) above sea level. The watershed between the major Congo and Nile drainage basins runs from north to south through Rwanda, dividing the country into two distinct regions.
